KEIR STARMER WIFE: WHY LADY STARMER COULD BE LABOUR LEADER'S SECRET WEAPON

Keir Starmer, 59, has always remained tight-lipped about his family life, and his wife Lady Victoria Starmer has been an aloof political spouse. However, Lady Starmer has chosen her moments to appear in support of her husband, and puts on a stylish and classy display whenever she does so. What do we know about Keir Starmer's wife?

Who is Keir Starmer's wife?

Lady Victoria Starmer, formerly Victoria Alexander, made her first appearance as the then-new Labour leader's wife when the pair were filmed clapping for the NHS outside their £1.75 million Camden home.

Lady Starmer appeared make-up free and looked relaxed in front of the cameras outside their family home.

Since then, her aloofness has been noted, with Tatler describing her as a "reluctant political spouse".

However whenever she chooses to make an appearance, she does so with a bouncy blow dry and a stylish wardrobe.

Her immaculate dress sense at the 2021 Labour conference in Brighton even attracted comparisons to Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.

Despite being in the limelight, the couple seem to be determined to shield their family from media attention, even declining to reveal their daughter's name. The Starmers also have a 13-year-old son, Toby.

Lady Starmer's determination to stay down to earth is consistent with her and Keir's early relationship, when the pair reportedly dined on inexpensive pizzas in Camden pubs.

The pair met when they were both working as lawyers in the early noughties, and Victoria reportedly had to supply Keir with documents for a case he was working on.

By 2007 the couple were married, and a year later welcomed their first child, Toby.

Lady Starmer no longer works as a solicitor, she now works for Occupational Health in the NHS, and is a governor at their children's school.

Keir Starmer has spoken of his wife's Jewish faith and described their family's traditional Friday Night Dinners.

A Labour Insider told the Telegraph: "She's quite sassy in that she's quite unbothered by what he's doing.

"If he ever gets into Downing Street, she's going to be very much leading her own life.

"They have a great dynamic - she spends quite a lot of time taking the mickey out of him because he can be so serious.

"I've never known her to be particularly political - she's always had her own interests."
