Then name Liam Gallagher almost became synonymous with a rock and roll lifestyle over the years, especially at the height of his fame. And so when Oasis' reunion tour was announced, many believed old habits would eventually resurface.
But it now looks as though the 53 year old singer has turned a huge corner as he has now revealed that he is giving up alcohol for good. Liam, his brother Noel Gallagher and the rest of Oasis played their final gig in Sao Paulo, Brazil, last week. And during their hugely anticipated tour, he had given up alcohol and cigarettes in a bid to protect his voice.
Celebrating the final show, the band reportedly had a few beers to celebrate but he soon told fans that he wasn't "feeling it." Taking to X, he wrote: "I had a few beers wasn’t feeling it I’m back on the righteous path free from temptation."'
And many rushed to congratulate his health choice and lifestyle change. One fans asked him if he missed his old vices to which the singer said that he needed to sort "his life out", as he knew how much fans were desperate to see the band perform. He said: "Oasis saved my life. It's about time I sorted my nappa [head] out. I know how much this means to people so stopping drinking and smoking and snorting Gary baldies are sacrifices that needed to be made."
He concluded his message saying: "thems the rules MCFC", which was a nod to his football club Manchester City. When another follower asked him if he missed the "occasional Guinness" Liam responded saying: "Yeah I miss talking absolute b***ocks when I'm bladdered."
It has been reported that both Liam and Noel were on track to make an eye-watering £400 million on the back of their 41 global tour. At the time it was announced that the band were to reunite following their infamous fight 16 years ago, which split the group, fans were going wild at the prospect of seeing the brothers on stage once again.
There has since been speculation over the future of the band following their tour success. But Liam was quick to say that the decision over the future of Oasis was not simply down to him.
This comes after it was rumoured the brothers were considering a residency at Knebworth next year, alongside other shows at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium.
Liam has been more than careful to not reveal too much too soon as back in September, during a gig at Wembley Stadium, he told the crowd "see you next year", as they ended their show with the classic Champagne Supernova.
He then joked that he'd had his wrist slapped over his comment. And this came after a statement was announced at the House of Lords by Baroness Sharon Taylor of Stevenage. She had said Oasis would play five nights at the Hertfordshire venue. But in a cha with the BBC she quickly recanted her statement. She said: "I was speaking hypothetically following speculation that they would play Knebworth again as they did in August 1996. I understand the band have not confirmed this."
