If you're looking to switch up your hair colour, bronde hair might be the chicest, low-maintenance update to try this autumn. A combination of blonde and brunette tones, it's a soft shade that suits pretty much everyone.
WH chatted to Harriet Muldoon, hair colourist at Larry King, to figure out why bronde hair is currently having a moment, plus what to ask your hairdresser for if you're looking to try out the trend.
'Bronde blonde is a look that has been around for a few years but is definitely here to stay,' says Harriet Muldoon, hair colourist at Larry King. 'I also like to call it a layered blonde look – as it's all about adding depth and warmth to your highlights.'
A versatile mix of both brunette and blonde, it's the perfect shade for anyone who wants a low-commitment, chic hair colour that can be completely tailored to your look.
The good news with bronde hair is that it suits pretty much everyone. It's always a good idea to chat to your colourist to come up with a bespoke shade that will best compliment your skin tone and style but the beauty of bronde hair is that it can be both warm and ashy – and super flattering on all skin tones.
'I like to describe the look to my clients like how you'd apply bronzer with a blush on top. It combines warmth and cool tones for a layered, multi-tonal look.
'For spring/summer I would usually leave the ends a little lighter and add some warm bronze tones around the roots. This can help to really lift your complexion and I swear it makes me feel younger!!'
'Bronde hair falls somewhere between blonde and brunette,' explains Clay Hawkins, Celebrity Hairstylist and Living Proof Ambassador. 'Ask for a ton of high and lowlights, adding an inch or two root smudge to keep it modern.
'You can also play around with colour placement to dial up dimensions,' adds Mitchell Ramazon. 'This is great if your hair is on the finer side, as it will help to add depth and dimension.'
Jenna Norman, colourist at Hershesons adds, 'Jessica Biel is a great celebrity to look to for bronde hair inspiration.'

One of the major benefits of bronde hair is that the different shades and tones within the hair can create a killer shine – when using the right products within your routine.
