Some of the UK's top brands including and will close some of their shops permanently this month. Shops all over the country are due to shut down for good.


Iceland, one of the UK's top shopping destinations for frozen food, will close three of its stores by the end of the month.

  • South Street, Newport, Isle of Wight - March 25
  • St Catherine's Place, Bedminster, Bristol - March 25
  • Deiniol Centre, Bangor - March 27


Bargain brand B&M sells a huge range of goods from homeware to toys and food and drink. The brand is planning to close four of its stores this year, with Bristol and Stockton set to shut down, with the store in Kilmarnock due to close before the end of the month.

One of the country's most recognisable retail brands, M&S is planning to close 67 of its larger stores.

The brand is planning to close the shops over the next three years as it tries to save around £400million.

The shops affected in the plan were described by the brand as "lower productivity, full line stores" with one set to close this month.

One of the UK's biggest card retailers, Clintons has announced the closure of two of its stores before the end of the month.

  • Whitehaven, Cumbria - March 19
  • Market Street, Bolton - Set to close by the end of the month


Homesense is part of the same group as TK Maxx and sells home furnishings and decorations.

Halfords, House of Fraser and Paperchase have plans to shut several of their stores before the end of the year.

Several banks have also announced plans to close their doors this month, leaving some customers without a local branch.

Barclays is planning to close four of its stores including in Torquay, Birmingham and Sittingbourne.

Natwest is due to close five branches while Halifax will close one branch at the end of March. Santander will close three branches before the end of the month.

Many retailers are struggling as shoppers feel the burn of soaring inflation and high energy bills.

Over 15,000 retail jobs have been lost over the year as brands close branches or restructure.

Boots closed three of its stores earlier on in March with shops in Greater Manchester, Malvern and Ellesmere affected.

Clothing retailer, New Look, closed seven of its stores in January and February while H&M has also planned permanent closures.
